Don Harriger's Music

Don Harriger is probably the most important person in Sandy's life who influenced her at a young age to play the accordion. Don married Sandy's sister Joanie and lived in Empire Michigan most of their lives with a 13 year stint in California where their 4 children were born. Sandy was born on Don's 25th birthday and it only seemed natural in her mind to play accordion like Don.

Don's musical career was a legacy that his family was passionate about saving for the family and fans to enjoy. The band called The Rythymers were the Traverse City Holiday Inn house band for many years and played locally in Traverse and Leelanau counties hundreds of gigs.  Because of the lack of technology in the 70's in was a difficult task to find a quality sound that had been recorded. 

When tapes (back in the day tapes) and a reel to reel machine were discovered in the music room of Joanie and Don's home, the family had hopes of finding what they were looking for, a quality recording.

Thanks to the efforts of Steve Paige who fixed the tape machine which needed some TLC, we were able to go to the next step and hear the tapes! The most important part of the process included George's nephew, Jonah Powell who downloaded the tapes to digital format, He then meticulously edited the sound which needed his professional touch.. We are so happy with the outcome.
